Jarri Hasnain is a
multidisciplinary artist based in Virginia working primarily in printmaking. He
is influenced by his experience as an immigrant and training as an architect. At
the core of both is language: spoken and visual. He is interested in how forms
in visual language evoke shared and personal perceptions.
Foundational to Hasnain’s work is the act of making. Central to his art are the inherent qualities of depth and layering in relief printmaking and the way these properties inform spatial relationships, opacity, and color. Rather than renderings of preconceived concepts, his works are physical artifacts exploring space and structure through specific materials, methods, and processes.
